| Re: Drive sink contact I believe that most of the heat is actually generated by the electronics, and the spindle motor. If this is true, then attaching a big heatsink to the top of the drive will be pretty ineffective, as it's literally just a lid (normally a thin bit of steel).
Removing the heat from the main body of the drive would be more effective, but I'm not sure how you would do that. Removing the heat from the electronics would be good, but still leaves the heat generated by the spindle motor.
