Take a little credit please, dumass. If you really lived up to your handle, you'd still be figuring out the leap from Win3.1 to Win95!

You can't go wrong by getting "Linux for Complete Idiots" from a library or book store. Just remember that books aren't necessarily up to date to the second. What applies to Win NT and Win2K vis a vis Linux should apply to XP as well.

Modern Linux's have rather good "automagic" install capability. Having to deal with Win XP on your C:\ partition is probably confusing RH's installation program. If you can figure out how to "unlock" or un-protect your MBR in XP, that just might do the trick. For some unsettling reason, most Linux distro's wait 'till near the very end of the installation to ask you where you want to install LILO. If you can make it through the install process that far, directing Red Hat to put LILO on a floppy will probably do the trick.

We are ALL "dumasses" the first time we try to install Linux. If you're only familiar with the MS way of doing things, Linux is a shock. The secret that makes Linux less threatening is to have fun with it. Sometimes you gotta remind yourself to have fun, no lie!
