Many folks say "if it's running, it's not too hot." And the accurate measurement of CPU temp is usually a problem with K7 CPU's. It's your machine!
While the present fan on your Thermalright is nice and quiet, it's inadequate for the present setup. We also don't know how much air is being forced through your case every minute. If temporarily removing your case's left side cover produces a noticeable drop in mainboard and processor temperatures, more case cooling is called for.
Were this my machine, I'd slap a 80mm King Size Delta "Screamer" on top of the HS. 68 cfm will help. 80 cfm will help a little more. Both are loud and annoying. If installing a finger mauling 80mm(with the case buttoned up) doesn't make much difference, the amount of air flowing through the case must be dramatically increased.
While we're at it, could you please let us know how your HSF was installed? Thermal paste and all that?
Changing the 92mm's to more powerful one's will help. But--if the hot air isn't being sucked out of the case, all the intake volume in the world won't help very much. |
Thanks for the information..I do have an 80mm Vantec 80cfm 55dB but it is too damn loud. But would be a good test to see how big of difference it makes on this
Oc'ed system. The fan currently on the CPU is sort of a junker 80mm ThermalTake. Do you have any suggestions for say a 50cfm fan 80mm that is somewhat quiet?
I did use Artic Silver3 for the thermal paste but do not have any shim of any sort..I do have one it is just on not being used...should I use a shim? Also maybe I should get a larger 60mm fan that can get some hot air out of this case as the ambient temps in the case are 36°C..is that too hot too?
