There is a pile of USB information
here that you should look over. If you have the USB 2.0 controller and root hub loaded, but are seeing yellow exclamation marks, then check the properties to find out the reason for the complaints. If it is a lack of available IRQ's, try going through your BIOS and disabling every device that you don't actually need. While you're there, set the operating system type to PnP Yes (PlugNPlay) and disable preassignment of IRQs for Video and USB. Wouldn't hurt to disable Power Management (ACPI) as well.
