The IDE driver problem is a relatively minor issue on an otherwise great high-performance chipset. I'd still take nForce2 over any current VIA chipset.
The MS IDE drivers default to PIO mode. If you go under advanced settings on both the Primary and Secondary controller channels, you can set Ultra DMA mode which performs much better.
