I haven't mounted powerful 80 mm's like this, just weeny 20-30 cfm fans. Suspend the fans where you want them using tie-wraps also known as cable ties, or even dental floss or other no foolin' strong string. As long as the fan can't move more than a centimeter or so, this method works OK. If you can suspend a bridge, why not suspend a fan?
