Sorry i havent finished the reading of all the replies but i think i have had the same problem. I have a Pentium II and the motherboard doesnt accept HD bigger than 32GB. There must be a jumper at the backwards side of your HD that lets you limit the maximum capacity of your HD (if u dont have the jumper u can build it yoursef with aluminium film). But its a pity to reduce a 60 GB HD to just 32 if thats your problem try to change it for a smaller one.
