| Windows is stupid when it comes to file types - it works on the assumption that whatever comes after the last dot tells it what the file is. It's not clever enough to check inside the file to see what it really is (A la Mac, OS/2, Epoc and others)
It should be ok to use it to flash with - what do you normally flash with?
