| You might be able to just copy a couple of files to your hard drive, then boot up with boot diskettes and install. I'm not sure what files would be looked for, but I know that we used to do that when recovering from hd failures. I had a couple of hds commit suicide and all I had was the upgrade cd. I'm sure there must be someone on this forum that remembers some of this too.
Do you have another working system you can use to create the WINxx boot disks?
Is the Win98 cd bootable? Can you just boot up to a windows command line with it and then install XP?
