Looking at my stats the past week, I noticed quite a bit of bumpiness. Knowing that most of my rigs have not failed, I tried to find a solution. Early in the week, some big point tinkers were released... OK, so machines would get clogged up for a day or so and not be able to score quickly. That explains the drop, but I should have gotten a big rebound a day or 2 later.... Didn't happen.

Then I spreadsheeted out the points and frame times of the tinkers and gromacs, on my P4's and AMD boxes... The results surprised me. Even tho the benchmark machine is a P4, my P4's were much worse at scoring tinkers than gromacs, especially the HT machine... Oddly, my AMD boxes scored almost the same points per day on both tinkers and gromacs.

My guess is that Hyperthreading is very good at crunching 2 gromacs WUs, but not nearly as efficient at tinkers WUs. The bench machine is a 2.8 P4 w/ HT turned off.
