Hmm. Nasty. On one hand, I have seen many random problems that have been solved by running CHDSK /r (I think - surface scan) from Recovery mode (boot from Windows CD).

And on the other hand, according to:

capacitors may not show physical signs of problems, and you'd need a fancy capacitor testor thingy to discover this. Gizmo probably knows more about this than me.
