| The 1 CD SUSE is just a "live eval", i.e. SuSE's take on Knoppix. SuSE also offer a single-disc ISO of their "personal" edition, which is just enough to give you a console. I'm not sure how their 32 bit version works, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with SuSE 9.1 for 64 bit.
The problems really are with Wine. WineX (now named Cedega) is apparently far better, but it's not free. There are other options, such as vmware, too. Also consider Gentoo, but be warned that it's not easy.
