Older ATX (1.0) power supplies with 20-pin main power connector do only have one 12V line. Such a high charge on one line can damage a PSU over the time. New ATX 2.0 PSUs, featuring a 24-pin power connector have two 12V lines, so the load is split to two lines.
I'm at a complete loss to understand this statement, unless they are talking about the power connector itself. Pulling a huge number of amps through that single 12v connector will cause it to degrade and eventually burn up over time (similar to what we've seen with mobos that run the Vcore reg off the 5v). However, it's not going to damage the PSU itself unless you are overloading the 12v circuit.

Mongycore, you should note that IMHO, the issue here is one of burning up the 20-pin connector. If you buy a 20-to-24-pin adapter, you still have the problem of burning up the 20-pin connector. If you go this route, I would recommend at the very least cutting the 12v wires loose from the two connectors and soldering them together. Leave yourself enough wire at the connector that you can reverse the job later if you need to, but at least this way you won't have to worry about slagging the connector. Just my $.02 worth.
