Thanks for putting into words what i was kinda thinking. I've seen the boards using a regular 4-pin 12v connector(the yellow/black wired type) in place of an adapter (and rewiring the 20 pin connector to be able to do so), and have a stable machine, but this is not what is recommended, based on the connector's lines not being able to handle the load, at least not for enxtended periods of time.
