Hold on... I think I got it straight in my head
Infrared is optical but you'd have to mod your mouse to make it infrared 'cause most optical mice just use a really bright red led. the mx1000
is laser, and that was supposed to be it's big feature but turns out it's not that great for games (too sensitive or something).
I guess infrared got stuck in my head because I burnt the board of an old mouse trying to solder in an infrared led
