| Spread spectrum varies the clock speed slightly to try to avoid EMI (Electro magnetic interferance) and can have adverse effects on stability when overclocking, so try it with it off until you find your highest stable overclock.
Prime95 will tell you for sure if a chip is capable of a clocksped at the set voltage, if prime95 passes and a game cause instability then the likely cause would be heat due to the extra produced by the video card, what cores temps are you currently seeing? Prescotts start to throttle at around 70°C so try downloading throttlewach from the download section and check this isn't happening
All that may be needed is a little extra vcore voltage if temps aren't too high.
