It is not something that will happen under normal circumstances. Seriously, a hard drive failure these days is not a common event. I have 9 odd maxtors here and a couple of seagates that have been in service for 5-12 years and I have only had one failure, from a bad power supply.

A newish top end hard disk with a high reputation crashing like that just doesn't happen these days, so if I was struck by it, I would accept it and move on.

And yea, with 12Mbit and 40GB per month the amount of crap I donwload is disgusting. I downloaded the entire collection of 1080i high definition trailers off the Microsoft WMV-HD site just for the hell of it. Thats how bored I get.
