| I'm sure this is implemented in other mice, but I read about it specifically with my MX1000. The Logitech MX1000 uses some sort of special RF that has a theoretical speed faster than that of USB. This gives you speeds just as fast as a wired mouse would.
I love my MX1000. I've found it more than suitable for gaming and any other applications I use on a daily basis. It's also quite comfortable and the battery lasts absolutely forever. The only thing I'd do to improve it would be to add bluetooth (as my computer has BT built-in and thus would require no receiver.) I haven't priced them recently, but I got mine for $40 US after rebate over the summer.
