You're not kidding, are you? almost every WD drive has freatures AAM for a long time, as have other maufacturer's. Basically it just slows down the spin speed as well as a few other things, to keep the noise down.

Now, if you were an ATI user, you would have seen this functionality appear in ATITool in more than one version.
