okay, i've gone and cut out the old crappy built-in fan grills on my case, i'll take pics of those tomorrow, nothing special about those.
But for the special bit, and the section i'll need your guys's assistance, *Drum roll* the mouse mod. i've gone and cut two windows in my mouse, and used a peice of acryllic for the window, it's really thick, and is somewhat darkish. still looks good though. i'll post pics tomorrow cuz they're on my digicam and i'm too tired to upload them.
Some tips for those who want to mod their mice:
1. Use the thinest bloody acryllic possible.
2. Don't cut the window until you have the plexiglass/acrylic in place. (I did the hole first.)
3. WEAR GOGGLES! i thought wearing my glasses would be sufficent. gah. damn little particles of crap. and if you do get it near your eyes gently use some paper towel, and brush it away, with your eyes lightly closed.
i'm gonna sand the cuts into the plastic, and use a lighter to melt it slightly to get a better finish. (Learned that somewhere) then i'm gonna use some red paint, and do the edges of the window with it. (The cut area.) and the difficult bit. The wiring.
You see, a mouse with windows is nice if you have light in it already. i didn't/don't. it was a standard Aopen ps2 scroll wheel mouse, with a ball. not an optical glowy mouse. so i'm gonna wire in a pair of leds leftover from the network hub mod. if you haven't seen it already then go check it out.
Using the chart from
http://www.hardwarebook.net/connecto.../ps2mouse.html and the tutorial from
http://casemodgod.com/Howto-story--32.html i am able to figure it out somewhat. I just need to figure out which colours are what wire, and tap into the proper ones for the leds. I logically would use the 4 VCC --> Power , +5 VDC for the positive end but i'm not sure which wire to use for the negative. please help me
