run xp on a average machine from 1999-2000. and run it on a machone from 2002. it takes time to actually see the full potemtial of a New OS. although 85% of us will be running vista in parallel with xp. 2gb ram, 64 bit cpu = good, dual core wud be even better, but how much? - only software from late 2007 or 2008 with good hardware would show us what vista can do that xp cant. i still dont know how much efficient it will be compared to linux, for simple / office computer use and in the price (of hardware, os and software) comparisons. with 1GB RAM, a very basic AGP Card (Geforce fx 5200 or even lower), dual core or 64 bit processor and 7200 rpm SATA hard drive - linux powered systems are still far ahead on many useful factors other than gaming!
