I've got nothing against people playing the game, but to me, it sucks a lot. I think that other game designers can and should learn a lot from DICE. Their theory was good, i thank them for that. They had a good idea, but it's gone so wrong by people trying to exploit it with things like bunnyhopping. How did people discover that? Admittedly, they did fix it, fair enough, but when 1.3 rolled around, people were 'cartillerying'. When you see something like that, you do tend to laugh at first but it soon becomes old.
If they fixed the textures in BF2142, i'd gladly play it. In fact, why don't we make it a community project, to make better textures for it. I'd gladly help with it. That would make it all fine for me (just about). Perhaps we could even modify some from Source and work them into the BF engine. I'm prepared to do that because textures are one of the most important parts in a game. With any luck, our textures will be smaller in size thus making it easier on resources and therefore making for quicker loading times and less lag.
