What bother's me most is the fact that I've been left waiting, cash in hand for six months for AMD/ATI to get its act together, based on the promise of something at least reasonably superior, and based on AMD's promise to fix the abhorrent state of their flglx graphics drivers. As far as performance goes, I feel sick about not buying an 8800GTX months ago for this thing. And as far as that drivers promise, AMD lied. Flglx is currently worse than its ever been, in terms of performance, reliability, and support. To put it in perspective, one of my mates recently switched from an Nvidia 7600GT to an X1950XT since the price dropped, and is now back using the 7600GT because World Of Warcraft was virtually unplayable with the Radeon, even with the latest heavily advanced Cedega engine running on Ubuntu.
I'm waiting for an AMD
PR guy to jump out from behind the curtain and go 'Ah, just kidding guys, here's the real R600, the one that doesn't suck'.
Bitterly disappointed.
