| No it's not mean to charge relatives street value of components, in my experience they are the worst customer to have. Just the sheer amount of free technical support they feel you are obligated to is enough to justify charging extra.
I have built rigs for extended family and it's always the same. They don't listen to what you tell them or educate themselves on proper security, then they fill it up with wares and other junk till it slows down to a crawl. Then they call you and expect you to fix it free of charge. Even had one bad mouth me to other family members, then goes out and buys a Dell and screws that up. [/rant]
