| tbh the restrictions are stupid. Every one of these low power players still sounds loud as hell on tinny little cheapo earbuds, but high impedence headphones like the ones I use get nothing out of them.
My HD595s on a PSP or an iPod sound like someone whispering from a room or two away even at max volume due to those same restrictions.
Fact is they don't restrict volume at all, they restrict output power, which is idiotic. Volume has almost nothing to do with the player and everything to do with the type of headphones you are using.
