I see an English judge gazing unfavorably upon someone in the dock, for a jaundiced example. The wig and all gives it more meaning than in a less formal American court.

A brown study, this one I don't know well enough to give a definitive example. Perhaps it means gazing inward, contemplating an unpleasant subject.
C'mon cloasters, where are some examples of happiness?
A dim bulb hopping in glee at winning a round on The Wheel of Fortune?

Giddy with holiday fever?
