The fundamental issue boils down to accounting: we need to be able to show a good faith effort to get the money where it belongs. If people are going to be donating money through AOA for the purpose of purchasing laptops, we need to be able to show that the money was in fact sent to OLPC.
We are still trying to sort this out in a satisfactory manner.
Besides, if anyone gets a new video card, PS3, or computing farm out of this, it's gonna be me.
