Slow Windows XP disk performance? Ok.. I'm seeing reports of Windows XP having some pretty awful disk performance in certain circumstances. Perhaps those who are running Windows XP could take a look and see how their machines size up?
I'm hearing that basic IDE systems work fine. That's a system with no RAID.
Systems with higher performing disk systems (SCSI and IDE RAID) would appear to have more problems. People are seeing some pathetically poor read or write speeds (or both!) on systems that should be capable of far more, and were under Win2K.
Things people have seen - normal write speeds and slow reads. Normal reads and slow writes, slow reads and writes.
In terms of slow, reports are that they're expecting 50Mbyte/sec and are seeing 12Mbyte/sec. This appears to be across several different chipsets, SCSI/RAID adapters and CPUs.
How does your system seem?
