| There's much more to this than just being allowed to ship them with a distro.
What is happening is that anything not under the GPL will not be allowed to use GPLonly symbols in the kernel. It will affect much more than nvidia drivers.
For those that need a reference model to work with, there are a couple of select individuals deciding what is best for us in the way we use our computers. (They don't work for nvidia)
Given what I'seen over the last year in Linux and what I expect to see this year, my avatar will most likely change. I wouldn't be testing Vista if I didn't feel it may turn out to be a better alternative.
