| Msi 8800gt I had a weird situation this morning before work. I had to leave though so I didn’t get to investigate it more.
I have a Prescott 3.2ghz and it had been running with a 7900gtx video card. I got some version of 3dmark and it would do 15000 range. I OC’d the processor to 3.4ghz and the 3dmark score went up a thousand or two which seemed reasonable. Now here is the weird part. I put on a new video card, an MSI 8800GT that came OC’d to 660mhz. I reset the Prescott to 3.2ghz (stock) and 3dmarked it. It got a 30000 range score. Double the 7900! I was needless to say very pleased with that! But when I ran the Prescott back up to 3.4 my 3dmark score went down several thousand! WTF? Is that a normal occurrence? Am I really better off running the CPU at stock frequency?
