So, it's a CMI8770 based card. It has a 2.8V RMS output, which is way higher than the -10dBV (0.316v RMS)consumer standard, and +4dBm (1.23V RMS) professional standard. This is for no apparent reason other than marketing. (IE, your amp expects a signal with a maximum level of either -10dBV or +4dBm)

They make a big deal out of the opamps being high quality, but the CMI's converters are not the best. The CMI8770 appears to use software encoding for Dolby Digital Live, rather than performing it in hardware.
