| Television tranquilizes you. Which sets you up for the bombardment of commercials that often make you feel that you MUST purchase something that you don't really need and can't afford--just to make the hollowness go away. And the gaping hole in your life is only incompletely and temporarily filled by spending money.
And it's more insidious than that. We're urged to go along with the "master plan" too. Most master plans urged upon us on tv don't benefit the individual. Public tv breaks this mold, but only around the edges. The "you will obey the Corporatocracy" message is loud and clear in the main. IMHO.
