I believe she had grown use to the evil of the city and had let it become a part of her.

I've always felt the story dealt harshly with her on the literal level. I mean her husband's gone mad! He's dragging her and her two daughters up a mountain and into wilderness in the middle of the freaking night!

He's raving about about the evil and corruption and the destruction of the people below! The man is obviously terrified by what he says is coming...but what!? What could threaten an entire city!? He didn't even let her bring food or water!! She was no more prepared to face the wilderness than a middle class house wife from Seattle!

Perhaps she just had to see what was befalling everyone she ever knew!

Yet her Husband gave her but one commandment..."Don't look back, don't regret the loss of all that evil practices gained for you."

In the mean time Lot's (The last just man in the city) own family is tainted by the city's corruption. We see how bad it was when even after their mother is turn to salt, both daughters, without husbands now and desiring children, get him drunk and take turns sleeping with him....(I've wondered if the mother was taken more for her bad influence on her daughters than for a momentary weakness... but I read the texts only in English...":O}

Clearly the Jews had a long journey ahead of them...before they would walk humbly with their God...
