Of course it's not just a case of having a new larger capacity disc and a higher-res TV monitor.

The stuff you're watching needs to be shot and/or mastered at that resolution.

As we are, not that many movies and programmes are 100% true 1080p from start to finish.

Cinema movies which have been remastered from the original analogue projector film, at 1080p, do look pretty close to what you see in a cinema, as far as fine detail goes. But, I think the colour is still a bit lacking. The colour range is not as wide.

1080p is enough, unless you have a living room 100 feet long and want a 20 foot wide TV screen. But the overall quality and colour needs to be improved.
