| The Ubuntu Live CD can be installed on a USB memory stick - I've had to do it from a vmware session in order to fix someone else's laptop, after they killed their boot. Unfortunately I don't remember exactly what I did end up doing - I think I used unetbootin to install it onto the memory stick.
