You can use your standard NAV and Personal firewall but don't use 32bit utilities that mess with any hardware under the 64bit OS - use the ones built into Windows XP 64 bit edition.

So all and all your pleased, excellent. We all have a lot riding on this. It would be a real pain if MS screwed it up more than usual.

I think I made the right decision to wait for A64's then... ![]() ![]() I guess I just have to wait for the prices to drop and then go have some fun! ![]() Thanks for the info ET! BTW, do you have any idea if the newer games work decently on Win64? I guess they all need to work on top of WOW emulation right? Keep us informed! ![]()

I guess that MS is giving away such a generous trial in order to get things moving forward faster and to get 64 bit computing established with the masses. If they don't do it someone else will and Billy wouldn't want that! |

Good point danrok! I've planned my 64 bit system, or rather planned on building one, for two years. I might of waited for the 900 chips, but for two "things..." The first of which was EPoX UK's unparalleled generosity in offering to send me a: "XP2900/XP3000 1.8GHz 754 pinner with 1MB cache and a 8HDA3+" !! So who needed a second "thing" after that! LOL The second thing was Uncle Bill buying Tiny Tim a Chrisms dinner! { Although one does wonder why Uncle Bill wants a fat Tiny Tim!? ":O} We can spend our 754 time tuning up MS and griping about the lack of 64 bit software!! ":O} Oh...and ET, may the angels smile upon your crusty 'ol face! ":O}

Regardless of motivation, giving a 360 day free trial will definitely cause an upsurge in HW sales, at least from all the enthusiasts who are "jones'ing" for a fix.... I honestly thought there wasn't going to be much to get worked up over for quite a while.

I can promise you that this is ET's first stop as soon as the info can be released. For sooner than that, you'll have to check the EPoX site daily. ":O}

There's a small chance it's some sort of test or engineering sample... or...maybe not! ":O}

The processor is a test piece that I used last year when we were developing further our EP-8HDA2+ (K8T400M) and then the publically available 8HDA3+ (K8T800). No benchmarks will be given by Daniel for this part (for professional considerations), but do note that it does overclock like nobodies business. I for a long time have had the pleasure of using A64, but for a long time had to keep tight lipped due to NDA restrictions. But it is amazing - so low maintenance in terms of what you have to do to get performance that is out of this world. I would like to see more people getting out into the Socket 754 market and moving away from Socket A - as Socket 754 and 939 are the future of both 32bit and 64bit AMD processors - beit Athlon 64-FX, Athlon 64 or Athlon XP - they will adopt those packages by Q3 this year - no more socket A. Socket A can be regarded as Super Socket 7 in the face of Slot 1 and Socket 370 for all intents and purposes. Be a pioneer - make the move!

Regarding NDA, can you be a bit more specific on the overclock? If Dan is getting a prerelease chip, I would guess it is unlocked. All newer CPUs (except FX) are locked now if I'm not mistaken.
