Exclamation New to the forum

Hi I'm new to the forum.

I just bought a custom made Compaq Presario R3000 notebook.

Athlon 64 3400+ 512MB RAM 60 GB

Unfortunately they gave me a 4200 RPM hard drive that seems to be slowing down my system. Does anyone know where I could buy a good fast Hard drive that would work in my notebook?

Also I cant seem to find any temp monitors that work with the Compaq/Nforce3 notebook motherboard.

Thanks in advance.

The drive comes out easily enough but it is attatched to a panel that is the bottom of the laptop. I'm guessing (without removing it because it is in use now) it should come off of the panel so I won't have to buy a special overpriced drive from Compaq.
I've built plenty of PC's but never worked on notebooks before so I am still learning.

you would think so...probably just the standard mini-drive.

welcome, and I do not think you will need a temp mon for that compaq, so just forget that, but, a new HDD will be a nice feature, but I would look for better than 5400rpm..

it would have to be at least a 7200rpm to have a noticable diff in speed.

Yeah, I think I'm going to go with a 7200 RPM this 4200 RPM drive is sickening.
