i think AMD seriously screwed the pooch on this one also. they have so many procs with the same specs or close enough to the same that i realy dont know witch way to go! why cant they just make big jumps? such as the 754 procs could just have a 3000+ then a 3400+ then a 3800+ but no, they have the 2800,3000,3100(semp),3200,3400,then the3700!(wonder what happened to the 3600..lol) what next, a cache of 768 and a new socket to go with it? i can see it now, "for those of you who just cant decide between a socket 754 and a 939. the new and improved socket 800! with core speeds from 3000 to 4000 1 mgz at a time! lots of upgrades to choose from!" lol!!! a bigger gap would seem to elimanate much B.S. cause most of us o.c. them past the next step anyhow. would save cash on packaging too(at least for the lable maker) seriously though, i want a new 64 bit system but dont know where to start! i figure that this is the worst time in computing history to upgrade!! agp or pci-x? 939 or 754? 3200 or 3700 or 3800? just when i figure it out, i just know those pricks will come out with a DDR2 board! and they actualy have the guts to complian about a slump in sales! well DUH!! what do ya expect? is there a safe 64 bit that will still be around in a year?

waiting for the nforce4 boards is the best bet at present, as these socket 939 boards with pci express are unlikely to be superseeded any time soon another odd thing about the 4000+ is even though they are in theory identical to an fx-53 they perform slightly slower http://www.hardocp.com/article.html?art=Njc1LDI=

i was under the impression that there were problems with the nforce 4 chipset, namely that they cant seem to get the hyper transport to 2000. they keep saying its fixed and then its not. but via seems to have no problems with this. via seems to be the new king of the hill for the 939.

Thanks Daniel ~ I dont think i've made it to the front page before ![]() This thread is a few weeks old now and the stuff has come in stock, From a supplier called komplett. you can get a fx53(939) for £555. and a 4000+ for £529. at least the numbers are the rite way round this time but they are still alot of money. For comparision a fx55 is only £599. hardly much more cash considering the outlay for those era chips. Come to think of it, the 939 version of the fx53 was 10% more expensive than the 940 version it replaced
