ati radeon 64bit driver wont install on xp 64!

hi, i've just installed xp64 on my 3400+ athlon 64 box which im dual booting with xp32 pro. I've got a couple of issues.

First off, when i tried installing the ati radeon drivers for xp 64 which i got from their website, it stops at a certain point and says "inf file missing"... any ideas?? I got my xp 64 from the m$ website just a few weeks back, its built 1218.

second, and this is annoying, i keep getting an update error when i try to use windows update (after its opened a "32bit internet explorer window") and i am signed in administrator and tried right clicking and "running as" administrator just in case.

Also, the last problem is a minor, its just that my usb 2.0 hub isnt being detected at all by xp 64, although it does make the "unplugging" sound if i unplug it. HOwever, this is livable if i sacrifice a few devices and just use the 3 usb ports in my laptop.

Also, ive noticed a lot of files automatically try installing to c:\, even the 64bit files, when its kinda obvious most ppl would have their xp64 on another named partition and in some of the files, im not even given the option to select the e:\ (xp64 drive) to install to!

Apart from that, its rly rly fast, and my audigy 2 nx external sound card was detected str8 away, even my di novo bluetooth keyboard and moue worked once i took them out of the hub.

Thanks for any hellp and advice. Its only really the ati thingy which im annoyed about most at the moment.

Oh, btw, im also thinking of TRIPLE booting using fedora 9.1 64 bit, im downloading it on bittorrent now, but for some reason azureus says that java isnt installed on the machine even though i did download and install the beta version of java for amd64 from the files section, any advice? cos im like 70% done on that download and would rather not have 2 order it by post!

thanks again!

You could try using bittornado for the remainder, I use it and can't fault it and most bit torrent users rate it as the best.
When you install your radeon drivers are you just running the installer you downloaded from ati? if so they put files in c:\ati\support\'driver version' temporarely, try running the installer, if it fails go to that directory and try running the setup from there

thanks man, i tried that, but still kept getting the message about inf file missing. Btw, the installation files were on the right drive, cos ati driver is one of the few drivers which gave me the option to choose where to install, but i still keep getting the INF FILE MISSING message

ok, now i got another error!! lol. ok i managed to install an older version of the ati driver, and that didnt give me no rubbish about missing inf files. however, now, i installed bullguard firewall and anti virus since it was recommended for protection against the 64bit worm, and did a restart, and now i keep getting "the applicaiton failed to initialize (0xc0000005) when i try to run msn messenger or peerguardian. Not sure bout any other apps since thats all ive got right now. any ideas? i'll try uninstalling bullguard firewall n see if that works i guess..

The only thing that will protect you is the Microsoft patches (available in the 64bit files section on these forums).

Antivirus is all 'after the fact' stuff...
