Are the 67.66 in 64bit form as yet? OH! What about Anti-viruses?

there are no driver ports. all of the 64 bit drivers were recoded from the ground up, so you have to go with something new. the 70.80 64s are official betas from nvidia and are the most current and bug free drivers. slightly faster than the 67.66s on xp32 IMO.

these are the newest official release non betas for XP 64 http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp64_66.96

but they are quite slow i found and have some small bugs here and there

the 70.80s are actually not up on AOAfiles, but ive got a copy and i can upload them. after i finish uploading the 64 bit Nforce 3 drivers. so it might be an hour or so.

Oh and as for antivirus programs, most of them still work. I dont have an antivirus installed. I use a firewall, im careful, and i use Trend Micro's free "housecall" web based virus scanner once a week.

the really cool thing about X64 is all viruses / spyware are still in 32-bit, therefore need to be run through WoW and have an x32 designation in the task manager. so you can delete all the processes that have x32 next to them and windows will be fine

makes finding thre little things easy, you see 5 svchosts and 1 svchostx32 then you know which one is a fake.

the more people that make their 64bit problems and solutions know the better

Incidentally, the new nvidia forceware 70.80s are up here http://files.aoaforums.com/index.php?dir=253

for all us nvidiots, they offer improved performance over a range of games, bug fixes in CSS, HL2 and far cry. Direct X 9.0C support. partial Nvidia Purevideo support. Very good drivers all round for X64.

DSIO..the drivers time out because they are still beta. They kinda say as much is the EULA, and the last ones i tried were good only until Oct 31st, 2004. Too bad i tried to install them in November. Needless to say, i had sound, until i decided to reboot. So AudigyLS support will come. As well, if you are intuitive enough, you let the installer extract the package, and before it deletes it, you copy it, and then install it manually.

Boot times have dissappeared.

I'm not too excited yet. Avalon does not have full functionality yet, and that's what is the most exciting. The next version of DirectX is in there....but actually enabling the DirectX side seems a little weird, at least for now. Something to play with, and nowhere near as infuriating as Linux forays have been for me, but nowhere near a finished product.

May release seems kinda possible, but i think august.

Hmmmmmm, I have Logitech Formula Force wheel and I am planning to go A64 this spring. I can only hope logitech will make a driver for A64 in the meantime.

Logitech have always had a habit of sitting on their collective swiss bottoms rather than improving driver support. Then when they do make drivers you get mouseware, something that norton hasnt detected yet, but im pretty sure is a trojan. Then iTouch, which is even worse. Their acual logitech force feed back profile utility is garbage too. Drivers just arnt their thing, but their hardware is impeckable. Im guessing you love your logitech wheel as much as i do

Don't hold your breath, the manufacturer of the networking chips they use hasn't released a 64bit driver yet either.

Man...I'm going to have to get a spare HD and give this a go now. I want to try it on a RAID setup, so it's going to be an adventure in drivers right from the start! Or does Longhorn actually recognize SCSI and SATA on bootup? BAh...so many questions, so little motivation to find out on my own.
