msi 6800gt temp too hot?

Hi to all,

I was wondering if i could get a second opinion on this, i have an nx6800gt (msi) with the cooling fan maxed out at 4000rpm, its summer now and on a warm day when the card is idle im seeing temperatures of 68 degrees is this normal?
thx

temps

Hi,

Not sure if you post is in the right section , Cleaner , but I have the same card running @ 51C idle in my sys , probably does creep up that high in full use. The setting for card slowdown at default is 135c ! so reckon youre doing ok with 68C. Got good airflow going in your case ?

Thats acceptable, though it's load temps that are important, stock coolers are usually quiet poor but you're safe even with very very hot temps on 6800's, it will protect it self if it gets too hot though so don't worry

Depending on what driver you are using, some 70.xx and 71.xx and even later 75.xx and 76.xx drivers have a temperature bug which makes them report temps up to 20 degrees above what they really are. That is a possibility in your case mate.

What driver are you using?

Put your case side back on....unless you have an A/C blowing right onto it..LOL
That destroy's the control of air flow and can lead to worse temps.
50C idle (unless overclocked) Is quite warm, however since your on the stock cooler and able to play 3d intensive games for a good time with no lock up, you should be fine. What kind of case cooling do you have??
