Is the highest point in Florida really less than 400 ft above sea level?

It depends on your interpretation. I'm certain that the skyscrapers in Miami are taller than that, thus meaning the highest point in Florida is well above 400 feet. However, if you only include natural formations (no man-made structures) then 400 feet is probably about right.

But I hate south Florida with a passion. Too hot, too many irritating people, too many suicidal drivers, too many bahstages in general.

Though, I do have to visit my family that lives down there. So, to get over having been to Florida, I just come home, look at my case badge, fire up my computer.....and start blasting zombies from here to Johannesburg.

I don't hate southern Florida. I'm equal opportunity and can't stand the whole peninsula. Alligators? They're welcome to them. I must admit that the most beautiful sunrise I've ever seen was on Daytona Beach. Not worth going back to see if I can find another one like that.

Well, once you're south of Gainesville it all goes downhill. The panhandle's alright, as far as I'm concerned, though.

"Homeless veteran, will work for food" said the tattered cardboard sign held by the tattered yet still standing tall man at the traffic light. Do you ever give him money? I do. Am I foolish in doing this? Sometimes, yes. But the sign often tells a true story and I feel duty bound to alleviate the misery in at least a small way.

I wonder if you have to experience homelessness personally before you care? Been there, done that. It is a horrible situation. It's better not to sneer at "those" people. You can not be sure that it won't happen to you.

To my great astonishment I have never been homeless. There is good luck swiming within bad luck most evey day for me...":O}
