I guess 64 bit, as it may make a difference, but I'm aware some apps don't like the 64 bit version, however all will have to work with it eventually to be able to work on Vista.

I moved to xp64 about 6 months ago, and the only problem I've had has been tv cards. Everything else works fine. I'm not sure if I got any performance gains (was a long time ago, if I _did_ benchmark before/after, I've forgotten the results), but it _feels_ good

i wouldnt bother its not worth the hassle, xp64 is based off windows server 2003 so yes its abit more stable but its less compatible with software and hardware, you'll be doing alot of windows on windows emulation as well which makes things slower.

the only use of 64bit os's these days is if you use MORE than 2 Gigs of ram.

Well I don't know about you guys, but I got 64bit version and it didn't even last one day before it was re-formated and back in 32bit. I saw a HUGH performance hit, and temps went way up on my cpu (the useage of the extra registers is to blame I believe). So be aware of that, just thought of saving some1 a little headache.

alas, i wasn't running any kind of monitoring software before my move, but performance aside, I have found no compatability problems except with TV cards. However, I'm probably not the best comparison - I only use windows for gaming Everything else is done in linux.
