One major sticking point at the moment:

A 64bit OS HAS TO HAVE 64bit drivers! You can't use your existing 32bit drivers for hardware. If you have any hardware that you want to use that does not have 64bit drivers, then you either want to replace the hardware or not go down the 64bit route.

That said if you decided to go 64, we've done our best to collect the 64 bit drivers that do exist.

64 bit driver link

I have been running 64-bit for a couple of years now. Win XP pro = 64 bit edition is the most stable OS I've used. It is so stable for me the price for Vista is not worth it. Most of the "extras" in Vista I can get elsewhere. I also talked to an IT administrator and he was a beta tester for Vista who agrees with me on Vista and XP 64bit.
The driver issue has come a long way since. At the time Soundblaster was the only sound card that would work. Cannon was the only printer. Logitech had some drivers but not mouse ware although the wireless rumble pad had 64 bit drivers. A good link for 64 bit drivers can be found at planet64 I also think you can get a list of drivers from AMD's website as well. Also the forums for 64 bit xp at Microsoft has useful information on updated drivers as well.

Hope this helps
