"Burning in," as done by PC enthusiasts is different from "Burning in," as done by manufacturers of electronic devices. It's a safe bet that 9 out of 10 EE's will insist that burning in, PC hobbyist style, is completely invalid and a waste of time. As well as harmful to the health and lifespan of a
CPU.
Another situation where the tech's know better than the engineer's? Wouldn't be the first time! Those with hand's on experience at torturing those sub-miniscule circuits know that it works to produce a processor that will clock higher than AMD, and what's its name intended. But not always!
It's possible that some OCing mavens burn in their
RAM. As
RAM performs a different function than do
CPU's, I'm far from certain that burning it in is to any benefit.
