Perplexed !!

Im not quite sure if this is the right place to ask such a question; Ive scanned through most of the posts on this Board & havent really found anything appropriate to my query, anyway, here goes - & I really hope [fingers X'ed] that some kind soul here can help me...

Basically Id say Im pretty knowledgeable at 'using PC's' but not so
knowledgeable at hardware queries, the problems started when I upgraded my MOBO & CPU [to a XP 1800+ / GA-7ZXE].

When the machine boots it doesnt recognise the XP 1800+ CPU, it first stated XP 1150 [which I gathered is the 11.5 multiplyer X a FSB of 100], I phoned the shop & they told me to go into the BIOS [AMI BIOS F9] & change the FSB to 133; the problem is it only goes upto 120, which I altered it to & now the machine boots at 1380 [11.5 X 120], but Im still not happy. Its still running underclocked by 153Mhz as it should be 1533Mhz.

Has any one got any idea what is happening here ?

With thanks...

System:
98SE
XP 1800+
Gigabyte GA-7ZXE
64Mb N-Vidia MX 400/

Well I checked your board and it should recognize the XP1800+, note there is a BIOS update if you do want it to run one of the new XP 2400+ processors, but let's fix this one first.

Check the the jumper on your board labeled CLK_JP, it is located right below DIMM 3 and IDE 1, the jumper has 2 settings, 1-2 closed is for 133MHz FSB, and 2-3 closed is for 100MHz FSB.
