Having played with converting MPEG2 streams into MPEG1 streams, I can understand your frustration. However, due to some of the dubious legality in the US with this particular topic, it is very difficult to discuss here without running the risk of having someone jump on AOA.

I know that I sucessfully converted an MPEG2 stream into a MPEG1 stream of blackness on a number of occasions. When it takes a good number of hours to do the filtering and adjustment as well as the conversion, one has to wonder if it's really worth it!

Might be worth it if you're a programmer and can speed up those processes....I tried it once before. I'm no programmer, so I gave it up. Way too much involved with all the parts and pieces programs out there. Then the quality sucks, and to assume you're putting it on a CDR, takes multiple disks....Uh, waste of time.
