the overclocking of sd100 ram

well after tons of comp probs including my sd133 stick of 512 ram getting roasted i have downgraded to a couple of old sd100 128 sticks.

Sadly this means i have to run at 100 mhz multiplier on my athalon 1800 so its running at 1150mhz.

Question is is it safe for the ram for me to set the jumper to 133?

I will upgrade my ram once my bank balance goes back up ill get some ddr 2100 but until then...........

really depends on the ram. I've had old pc 100 that would run at 133. I think they were micron chips on the ram module

Welcome to our forum Gloc. Please don't double post. Please post in the proper Topic.

I your ram won't run at 133 it won't hurt it having tried, it just wont run. Try is at the slowest RAM timings ans work up to faster timing from there if it will go.

Welcome to AOA's Forums, gloc!

It won't hurt to try your PC-100 @133 Mhz. If it's not AAA grade Memory, chances are slim.

I was shocked to discover that my brand new 1800+ booted into 1150 Mhz. After the EMT's left, I remembered the jumper on the mainboard. Freakin' DDR prices, arrgh. Hmm, Crucial's price for PC-2100 has dropped from ~$180 to ~$135 for a 512 Mb stick. Will we ever see 2 256 Mb 184-pin DIMMS for ~$75 again?
