CPU: 400MHz-->500MHz

Hi to everybody,
I decided to give a boost to one of my old PC’s (Compaq Presario 5190)
– I bought a CPU AMD 500MHz.
Basically I need some guides how to make it run at proper CPU clock speed, because right now it’s still runs at the same old 400MHz.
What kind of changes on the motherboard I need to do?
Thank you very much for suggestions.

-mjlabas.

I can tell you it would probably require you finding a diagram of the mother board or closely examinining it yourself. You might be able to find jumpers on the main board that control the cpu multiplier. Good luck.

Welcome to the forums

Go to the files section and download a copy of SiSoftware Sandra.
It is a great program that will tell you about your system. It will tell you the Manufacturer and modle number of your motherboard. Once you have this info go to the Manufacturers website and see if you can down load a manual. Also look for a bios update and any other info you can find.

Back then a lot of boards used jumpers and the maual will tell you what they are and where they are.

Once you have done that feel free to come back and ask any more questions that you like.
