Question A7N8X & XP2400 Multiplier Madness

My first post here. I just built a new rig using the A7n8x deluxe, the XP2400, and 512mb of XMS3200. Problem is: when the bios is set to "auto" in the multiplier block it reads as "6.5", although the actual multiplier for the xp2400 is "15". I can manually set it to 15, but most attempts to overclock (either by fsb change and/or multiplier change) do not work (except for minor fsb increases), and system will not post. Even more confusing: SciSoft Sandra or WCPUID results are totally different than the bios settings. For instance, these programs will show the cpu as say an "xp1800" not an "xp2400", with a fsb of about 1500. Seems that the bios is misreading the cpu, and causing all sorts of headaches for me. Overclocking is out of the question at this time. I have scratched my head too much over this, and throw myself at the mercy of this court. Please help!

P.S. I am confused on this issue: Does the A7N8X allow bios change of cpu mulitplier or not?

Thank you

Thanks for the reply Vengence_01. No, the bios is what came with the board, which I remember may well be 1000G. Is the latest Asus bios the best one to flash, including betas, or has one been proven better than the others?

Thank you
